Infant Constipation
Infant constipation can be caused by a switch from breast-feeding to solid food, or the use of baby formula. Constipation can refer to the infrequency of the stools, or the hardness and difficulty of the infant doing the stool. If your baby has not stooled in 2-3 days, you should consult your pediatrician. Also, consider changes in your infant’s pattern. Some babies may change suddenly from 4-5 soiled diapers per day down to every other day, and this is something that definitely should be checked out.
For infants 4-6 months, try introducing some apple juice (not applesauce, which is constipating due to pectin), or diluted prune juice in their bottle. This is a gentle treatment and laxative that can get infants that extra push.

If you have started giving solid foods to babies such as cereal, you can try introducing more green vegetables. avacado is an excellent choice with healthy monosaturated fats and fiber that helps babies poop!
Using a vegetable oil such as placing extra virgin olive oil on a babies nipple is a traditional remedy that has been used successfully in some households.
